Introduction: How I met Rob
Meet Rob Wigley. Rob came to me in 2019, needing a website to promote his upcoming debut album. This was back when Squarespace had just launched 7.1 but was still using the old editor. I had been designing on Squarespace for a couple years at this point and was primarily using it for personal websites. I knew we could design a beautiful website, and more importantly, I wanted to make sure Rob was comfortable editing it.
Little did I know Rob would quickly knock out 3 more albums over the next few years! When he released his 4th album, I designed his CD artwork and then we re-vamped his website. I transitioned all the sections over to Fluid Engine, updated the layout, and changed the colors. Rob needed a more neutral color pallet that would work agains different album artwork.
Rob is a guitar player and singer songwriter. We built him a website that focuses on his albums, song lyrics, and behind the scenes content.

First, tell us a little bit about yourself!
I'm a songwriter and musician - for the past 56 years. I live in Durango, Colorado and East Texas with my wife, Leslie. Leslie helps with lyrics on songs we write. My genre is all over the board, from country to jazz to rock to island. It's really wherever a song wants to take us. We spend time in Durango, Colorado and also Hawkins, in East Texas. In both places we totally enjoy the country life. We have so much gratitude for everything we have.
What did you struggle with the most when building your music website?
I'm the family tech support person, but I had no idea how to build a website. (I still don't)
How did you overcome those struggles and concerns?
I asked Khara Wolf to build my website for me. This simplified my life and was absolutely worth it.
What do you love about using Squarespace as a musician?
I love how easy it is for Khara to edit my website when I ask her for special items to be added or tweaked. It's very easy for me to navigate as well from the inside.
How has your website helped you as a musician and/or helped your music business?
My website has given me visibility and the ability to put more content out for people to see other than what's just on the covers of my CD's. I like having photos, lyrics, and stories about how the songs were written to be accessible for anyone who wants more information about me. I will be using my website more as I start a new project performing with Kate Willyard around Durango. The website will have more content and the schedule of where we will be playing. We might also do merch.
What advice do you have for other musicians considering a new website?
Hire a professional to design and create your website.
