The Double Reed Template

00:02 Let's do a quick walkthrough of the back end of this new website template just for double replayers. So this is what the back end looks like.

00:10 It's on Squarespace. When you purchase this template, I will install it for you. You'll get an email from Squarespace prompting you to create an account.

00:18 You'll create your account, log in, and your website will be ready to go. All you have to do is replace the copy and the images and the content on this website with your own.

00:27 So let's go ahead and take a look at what's back here. So I'm going to go ahead and click pages.

00:32 Now right here we have all the main pages of our site. So we have our main homepage, which is right here.

00:39 We have an about page. A lesson page, calendar, blog, shop, which is e-commerce, and a contact page. Now for this template I went ahead and I actually have two homepages.

00:52 So if you are wanting to focus on selling your reads, this homepage that's right in front of you is the one you're going to want.

00:59 As we scroll down, we've got our call. Call to action, right to the shop, a little blurb, our feature products, some testimonials, a section that calls to different categories.

01:13 You can have people go to just your English horn reads, just your professional reads, just your student reads. A section for upcoming content, inserts, and then your blog.

01:23 And as with all pages on this site, you can remove any section on a page that you don't want, you can edit any section, you can mix and match sections from one page to another, and you can hide pages that you don't need.

01:36 So one of the things I did with this particular template is I put I also made a lesson homepage. So we have a second homepage that focuses specifically on lessons.

01:47 So maybe you teach lessons and that's your primary thing and you just want to sell template, sell reads on the side, or maybe you're not quite ready to sell reads.

01:56 That's why I went ahead and did two homepages for this particular book. So when you check out, you can choose which template you want installed.

02:07 The e-commerce one, which I just showed you, or the lesson one. So they're pretty similar, but here we have a call-to-action button that goes to the lesson page, a slightly smaller blurb, and then we have a section that highlights the highlights some of what you do as an educator.

02:24 Another section for testimonials, which would come from your students. And then we have this category section down here. You can use this to promote your reads in a little bit less in-your-face kind of way, or this is just text and a button, so you could link this out to a teacher.

02:40 And then of webpage to other pages on your site, highlight upcoming workshops. This doesn't have to be about your shop.

02:47 We still have the concerts and events in here, and then of course the blog. So let me quickly show you some of the other pages on this site.

02:57 So we have an about page. Now, I specifically, designed this for Double Replayers because we tend to have a lot of extra things to say.

03:07 So here we have your introduction. I went ahead and made this image sticky so that as you scroll you can put your bio in.

03:15 We all tend to have long bios, so this is a good page to put your full bio. And then I just went ahead and created some extra, extra space for some teaching philosophies or just anything else that you might want to talk about.

03:25 And then a place for some images. You could also feature some of your products here as well. And then we have our primary lesson page.

03:32 Now if you are teaching this is definitely something you're going to want on your site, but if you're just selling your reads you probably can hide this page.

03:38 So again as double read players there's a lot to talk about in terms of lessons and readmaking, so I went ahead and put a lot of extra sections on this page.

03:49 So we have the main introductory page and again some more accordion icons. These accordion sections are really good for adding extra content without making the page too long.

03:59 And then we have a few more. More little blocks where you can put links to read sources or blogs you want to highlight or talk about how lessons work.

04:10 You could have a 1, 2, 3 section where you talk about the process of taking a lesson, frequently asked questions, a space for testimonials, and another section for additional resources.

04:20 Again, just providing a lot of sections where you can put the specific content that you need, and you can always delete any of these sections.

04:29 Now we have the calendar page. This uses Squarespace's built-in events page. So here we have our upcoming events, and it's a pretty straightforward calendar.

04:39 And this single page, links to the homepage, so when you update your events here, the events on the homepage automatically update as well.

04:48 And the blog, this is similar, it's just a pretty standard blog page, and as you update the blogs here, they'll automatically update on your homepage.

04:56 page. Now the shop, this is what makes this template really special. because as double read players many of us want to sell our reads.

05:03 And if you're on Etsy, Etsy takes a huge chunk of the commission. They take even more if people come in from Google.

05:10 Some of the other platforms aren't as easy if you're trying to sell online through social media. You don't have a place for everybody to see all your products at once and to optimize for SEO, so on so forth.

05:20 So having a shop is key. So I went ahead and set this shop up in a way where I thought it would work for double read players so that you have a template to start from.

05:31 Of course you'll come in here, put your own reads in here, put your own images, put your own content, but this is just so you can kind of see how it works.

05:38 And of course I have a full tutorial like this. through how to set up your shop. So I went ahead and kind of set this up in a way where we have a zoom effect.

05:47 It zooms into the reads. And I have a video that walks you through how to do that. Now if we click on one of these, I went ahead and set this up as a subscription.

05:56 So the way Squarespace works, you can sell single products or if you want to, you can sell single products and a subscription all from one page.

06:03 So here we have our professional Oboe read and we have our little image carousel. We have the introductory information, we have the price and then we have the ability to select a read bundle.

06:16 You of course can put in anything you want here. I went ahead and did just shape and staple but you could put in any variant you want and any number of variants within those variants.

06:27 And then as I go ahead and click a few things here, you'll see the price changes down here. Now people can choose a one time purchase or a subscribe and save and so in this case they would be subscribing to a three read bundle every single month.

06:40 And then they would go ahead and add that to the cart. So this is just a simple example of how you can set up your shop.

06:46 There are other ways to edit this particular template. You can put videos and more information down here at the bottom and again I have videos that walk you through all that.

06:58 Let's go ahead and jump to our contact page. This is pretty simple. It's pretty straight forward. It's always good to give people a way to get in touch with you.

07:05 So we just have our form here. Everything can be customized. And then under more pages we have our second home lesson version which I already went through.

07:15 And then one thing that makes this particular template really special for double replayers is I went ahead and put- Don't double read specific stuff in here.

07:22 So all of these images were purchased with a commercial license through Adobe Stock. Now some of the free sites that we use, Unsplash and Pexels don't have a great selection of double read images.

07:34 So I went ahead and bought the commercial version of all of these and included them in the template. So if you need some placeholder.

07:41 You have some. Of course you'll probably want to put in your own read and cane images but there's a few kind of nice banner generic banner images.

07:49 I tried to put a couple of assumed ones in here as well. And then if we scroll down we've got some generic icons that I've included and then this is the best part I think these unique double read icons.

08:00 Now these are icons that I designed myself and sold for a while. They're not on the market anymore but they're included with the template and if you want to use them you're absolutely welcome.

10:08 A little note on assets and licensing, a little note on privacy policy, and then of course, the backup codes. So there's a little bit of CSS in this template.

10:17 You'll never have to touch it, but if for some reason you do, and you want to mess around with it, I always keep a backup copy of the latest CSS for this template, so you can just copy and paste the latest if you were to accidentally mess something up.
