Ownby Double Reeds
Jennifer Ownby is an oboist, music educator, reed maker, and entrepreneur. She sells handmade oboe reeds to students, professionals, and enthusiasts. Back in 2019 she reached out to me about an e-commerce website and we built her a site for Ownby Double Reeds on WordPress. The monthly hosting fees were a bit less and she felt confident with ongoing updates.
However, as most small business owners find, WordPress is nearly impossible to keep up with. Between weekly plugin and theme updates and a difficult interface, she wasn’t able to keep the site functioning without reaching out for development support.
We transferred Jennifer’s website over to Squrespace in early 2023. Not only were we able to update the design and make it even better, but the backend became incredibly easy to use. Now Jennifer can easily update content, update products, create subscriptions, shipping labels, announcement messages, and more. She doesn’t need to worry about ongoing updates, broken functionality, or paying extra fees to keep her site in top shape.
